Long time no post

Yes, it's been awhile, but I'm still alive and doing my stuff.

I have just finished doing one piece for the upcoming SHADOWRUN book "Clutch of Dragons", and there will also be some pieces (I think it were three) for "Hazard Pay", too ([link]).

Next up will be a single robot pic for TRAVELLER by 13Mann ([link]), and afterwards I have a very small timeframe where my desk is empty, giving me the chance to FINALLY return my iMac to the shop so that they can fix/exchange the harddisk Apple botched last summer.

When I have my precioussss computer back, I expect to be hit by a wall of work from the German Chief Editor for SHADOWRUN that will keep me busy until the SPIEL game trade fair in Essen in October.

Oh, and if you meet any of the Catalyst Games guys, be sure to remind them that I want in on the SHADOWRUN 2050 book. This is going to be epic!

At day, I am working as a conceptioner and texter in a full service advertisment agency whose real area of expertise is sales promotion.

But at night, I transform into ... *boom* WACOMAN!

No... not from Waco. From Wacom. That's ... aw forget it ....

I started out as a hobbyist but have always done semi-professional stuff in one way or the other. During the years, I have done art and text for several publishers and systems.

In the Nineties I did computer game graphics for Amiga games by Silver Style Entertainment (who did Risen II and Simon the Sorcerer, among other things).

I also did several pix for the German releases of Feder & Schwert, the German publisher of White Wolf's "Vampire: The Masquerade" (German art and extra content of "Berlin bei Nacht" and extra art for the "Brujah Clanbook" and "Milwaukee Bei Nacht").

Oh, and I did the full artwork for the Berlin BloodBowl League Rules Pamphlet. That was great fun :)

In 2006 I started doing freelance stuff "in earnest", and have since contributed art and writing to

ich muss echt sagen eine Shadowrun bilder sind großartig, sie schaffen dass was nur wenige bilder anderer leute schaffen. ich kann mich und in den bildern wiederfinden und eindeutig sagen das es die welt und der styl is in dem meine figuren leben
auch die anderen bilder sind so wie ich mir die dinge vorstelle sie aber leider selbst nicht aufs papier bringe.

So, you're still not crediting your sources.
It's pretty obvious many of your artworks aren't digital paintings but photomanipulations.
And don't tell me you're not doing this commercially or your clients are responsible for the images you use. This is your job and you know damn well what you're doing.

As I have told you in our private correspondence, I credit all sources that I know of or that are pointed out to me.

Sometimes I will use photo references and direct photo manipulation. If the internet or other source where I get the pictures/photos/graphics/brushes tells me the material is free to use while they are not, I have no way of knowing that.

Likewise, if the person that asks me to do art provides me with reference pics I should use, I use them, trusting that the person providing them knows what he/she is doing (the person working for a publisher and all that).

You have told me in earlier comments that you know certain sources personally and that you know they never gave permission to use their work. I have responded to this by saying you should point me to those sources, so that I can verify this, reference the source properly and find an agreement with the copyright holder. If you don't tell me what these sources are, I cannot reference them. Sorry.

Concerning the commercial aspect, I have told you that while my work is technically commercial in the sense that I do receive payment for some or even most of my work, at present the commercial aspect is neglible: What is not eaten up by taxes gets eaten up by new hardware and programs (yes, I do pay for them), so the work basically just pays for itself.

Also, doing freelance illustration or art in general is NOT(!) my job. I do this in my spare time, and no matter how much I would L-O-V-E to do this full-time and as a real and paying(!) job, AT PRESENT (Aug/Sep 2011) I am nowhere NEAR getting "real" pay for what I'm doing.

I hope that I was able to answer some questions you had.
If you have further questions, please contact me via PM.

If you, the reader, are an artist/photographer whose art/photos I have (mis)used, please contact me likewise and I will gladly give proper reference, remove offending pictures and/or try to reach an acceptable solution for whichever problem there may be.

Ich bestaune deine Werke schon ne ganze Weile, aber da ich gerade hier bin, lasse ich mal meinen herzlichsten Dank für die tollen Shadowrun-Spielhilfen und Info auf deiner wordpress-page da. :thanks: Für einen SL-Frischling wie mich eine wahre Schatzkammer.

Als gebürtiger Ruhrpottler leite ich zwar im Rhein-Ruhr-Megaplex, aber der ganze Fluff über Berlin ist wirklich astrein und spannend zu lesen. Da ist ne Menge Inspiration zu finden.
