SR Maria Mercurialby *raben-aas

This piece was done for the Shadowrun Missions Series 04-00 PDF by Catalyst Games.

It is a new depiction of legendary 40y old mega-rockstar Maria Mercurial, who first appeared in the SR2(?) printed adventure of the same name and has been an SR icon for a lot of fans and as many years and editions

Initially I had hoped to get Ophelia Overdose as RL model for Maria Mercurial, as this would have opened up a lot of very cool new possibilities (wallpapers, posters, MM merchandise...). Sadly, she either didn't get my message or chose to not respond – either way, that's why you are not seeing her (or any other RL model's) face.

Hope you enjoy it anyway.

Oh, and since people keep asking:

– No, that's not Lady Gaga, and Lady Gaga was not used as ref pic (I don't think MM looks any way like LG (apart from being blonde), but well)

– Yes, that thing around MM's neck is an easter egg.

Yeah, I like the little Triryche pendant. There were a few of us who were big Queensryche fans, and since the game was set in Seattle, it seemed and "obvious" graffiti choice....

Her arms need to shine some more. In my Shadowrun campaigns she becomes a Producer of New Talent and a Aztechnology/Aztlan Human Rights Activist with Newyen to hire Shadowrunner to fight back.

Maria Mercurial was an Aztechnology employee. A Company Woman who somehow broke free of her programing and fled into the streets and barrens of Seattle. She became Rocker Girl and her rise to stardom and celebrity shielded her from direct reprisals, but Aztechnology does not let anyone go and she unknowingly still carried pay data the Megacorp wanted back.

In my SR3 Campaign Timeline she used the publicity and the law to force the Megacorp to back off. She married her then Agent/Producer/Manager and after a stellar career created their own Media Corp that helped new Nova Stars be born.

The Shadowrunners were hired to recover her Clients and protect them from their past. They learned that Maria was also sponsoring runs against the Megacorp to save innocents them. She was also sponsor of Policlub/Human Rights Group that sought to protect the innocents from the atrocities it carried out.

I have a better write up around here somewhere. Maybe one day I will post it.
